 Abstract:  The collection consists of two flyers. The first is an advertisement for two books published by the Ben-Zvi Institute and distributed by Wahrmann Books in 1965. The second flyer is an announcement of a memorial service held at the Synagogue of the Sephardic Jewish Center in New York on Sunday, June 25th 1939, in honor of the late Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Palestine, Yaakov Meir.

 Abstract:  Rabbi Dr. Isaac Abraham Alcalay (1882-1978) served as the Chief Rabbi of Yugoslavia from 1923-1941 and then of the Central Sephardic Communities in America fom 1943-1968. The collection primarily consists of photographs of Alcalay's rabbinic career in the United States. There are also numerous family photographs, a small number of images from his pre-war career in Europe, and various other materials from his personal life and rabbinic career.
